Kensington Investment Company, Inc. (KIC), founded in 1983, is the family office of the Lewis family and a Boston-based investment firm. KIC’s primary areas of investment include real estate, direct investments in private companies, and investments in alternative investment vehicles, such as private equity and venture capital funds.
From our offices in Boston, Massachusetts and Park City, Utah, we currently own and manage over two million square feet of residential and commercial property. Our real estate portfolio is focused on New England and Utah. We seek strategic acquisitions and development opportunities that align with the Lewis family’s philanthropic mission to change people’s lives and save the earth we share. Our goal is to be the leading socially and environmentally responsible family real estate development and investment firm.
In addition to real estate and other investments, the Lewis family owns Grand Circle Corporation (GCC), which operates through the brands Grand Circle Cruise Line, Overseas Adventure Travel, and Grand Circle Travel. GCC is the nationally recognized leader in the provision of international travel, adventure, and discovery to Americans over the age of 50. GCC’s trips include both land-based trips, and river and ocean cruises on the fleet of 10 ships that it owns.
The Lewis Family’s philanthropic partners include:
- Alnoba Lewis Family Foundation: The Alnoba Lewis Family Foundation (ALFF) is dedicated to developing courageous leadership and sustainability models to help change people’s lives, create stronger communities and save the earth we share. ALFF is the umbrella organization for Alnoba’s public programming, conservation efforts, philanthropic giving, and nonprofit leadership work.
- Pinnacle Leadership and Team Development: We believe leadership can come from anywhere, and when leaders grow, their teams and communities grow with them. That’s why we created Pinnacle Leadership and Team Development at Alnoba: to challenge people to step out of their routines, build trust, and discover they are capable of more than they imagined. With guidance from expert advisors, participants tackle hot issues, strengthen their teams, and reconnect with their passion for leading
- Grand Circle Foundation: With a mission to give back to the people and places where GCC travels, Grand Circle Foundation (GCF) has provided financial and leadership support to more than 500 projects in 50 countries around the world, such as schools and orphanages in developing countries, small businesses, clean water and sanitation, and supporting indigenous peoples.
